Hey guys just trying to decide, Right now i change up the flow every couple of days in my tank from a Wave style to a laminar flow switching every 6 minutes from each side of the tank. Just trying to decide should i keep doing this or would it be better to set it up one way and leave it or is there a better option on how to do this, Currently my tank is stocked with one duncan, a little zoa colony,a montiopra a hammer coral Will end out being a mixed reef with the easier to keep SPS and mostly LPS and some brains/ soft corals Please help!

Your corals will tell the story. You can try simplifying your flow cycles, see how the corals respond and adjust accordingly. I have a mixed reef and all I have is a pair of Koralia power heads and a simple controller that alternates power on and off left to right. I rarely move the power heads unless I end up cleaning them and they get shifted around. Unless you have an SPS dominate system, I wouldn't get too crazy with your flow. Ultimately, just try and keep the same amount of flow on the same corals, varying direction, , but that goes without saying.

Yeah im just trying to figure out which would be better to run kind of like a low tidehigh tide or keep the wave action. Sorry im new. I know i have10x turn over alone through the sump and 2 tunze 6105 i think they are. Big flow but i only run at 40% Just wondering what would be better for the corals.

Just use what your doing now as a bench mark. If you want to simplify it, do so, and tone it back little by little. If you see negative affects, then you know how to change it back to what was working before. If you see any sign of ailment in your coral, undo what you last did. Flow is relatively simple, but the wrong flow can be very negative.

I have a powerhead on the right side of the tank pointed straight across at one placed identically on the left. They run full blast on else mode and the flow collides in the middle.
