Hi guys,

I've just started up a Fluval Evo nano tank using rock/water from my old tank [32g biocube].

I have a BTA in this tank and I just got my powerhead to add some flow. The BTA seems to be getting a lot of flow now, I took a video - i'm not sure how much flow BTAs usually are happy with and get along fine with. The tank is 12g [excluding the sump area] and i've got a Koralia 425 (~35x turnover)

Any thoughts? or suggestions for better powerhead placement?

I would maybe try aiming for the opposite corner of where the power head is.

It does loom likes it’s getting a pretty good amount of movement, but I personally would leave it alone, if you’re happy with where the power head is.

The BTA will take a hike if he thinks there are purpler patches of coraline over the ridge. :)

I like where the BTA is more than I like where the powerhead is =)

Since the powerhead is a hydor Koralia Nano I can only point the powerhead straight [it doesn't tilt - similar to the vortechs]

I could move the powerhead to the top left, top center or middle right of the back wall, or I could put it on the left glass, pointing through the arch.

Or I could put it on the open edge of the tank, if that's best - but that would be the most visually obtrusive. Flow patterns and powerhead placement is so hard ;Drowning

Yours doesn’t swivel? I could be mistaken, but I think I have the exact same powerhead at home and mine swivels on a small red ball. Stiffly though.

I hope it stay where you want it to, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. They’re known to be quite adventurous. Especially after being introduced.

Getting the flow right can be irritating. I try to keep the power head high, slightly pointed down and to opposing corners.
I’m also using Jebao’s though and have them set to random, so I sorta have less control, or at least that’s what I tell myself so I stay out of the tank. :)

Yeah i'm not holding my breath on it staying where it is, but it did pick the perfect place to stay after moving 3 times ^_^

I like the flow it is receiving in the video. That is a good choice in rock as well. Many locations for it to move to if it chooses.

That's why I put it in before my first coral order, to hopefully let it pick it's spot. My wife won a free coral off of a facebook group from a guy across the state, so i'm "pushed" into ordering some more corals sooner than planned in order to get the free frag and combine shipping. Not gonna complain about a free frag though!

Then I definitely wouldn’t touch anything. If that’s where it went, and that’s where you like it, then I would try to keep things the same to encourage him to stay there long term.

The only problem there is that I didn't have the powerhead before, and i'll be changing the lights up soon as well. At least my rockwork is open enough that wherever it decided to call home, it should be easily viewable from the kitchen or the living room [the two sides that the tank is open to]

Gotcha. Well, hopefully he just enjoys the extra movement. :)

Here's how I have mine setup as an idea...

Looks like my bta is stretching for light? Put on the ai prime he, and have it in acclimation mode so the intensities are about 60% of the program in the picture.

Should I ramp up the acclimation? Everything else in the tank looks happy and is coloring up well since I've bought them.

Bta is around 14" off of the bottom of the light.

Bubbles [BTA] has lost her bubbles, and has spread out and had long[er] tentacles lately.

I just [today] decreased my lighting intensity and it immediately bubbled up.

Has anyone had experience with BTA's losing their bubbles when given too much/too intense lighting? I was under the impression that anemone's would take anything you can give them?

The above program is on a 4 week acclimation period [automatic] under Prime HD+.

Nutrient levels are:

ALK: 9.0 [160ppm] * This is my target number
Calcium: 350
MAG: 1450 - Target is 1350, going to let this come down naturally
Nitrate: [Salifert] Undetectable
Phosphate: [Hannah] 0.00
Temp: 78.9

I've started [today] dosing nitrate (stump remover) and phosphate (AquaVitro Activate), and have turned down my refugium lighting period.

I have a Haitians anemone is it possible for it to get to much flow?
