Hi, so when I feed pellets I usually leave all my pumps on, but when I feed lrs reef frenzy I turn it off because most of the food gets immediately blown into the overflow. Only problem is my fish seem to be scared when the flow is turned off and then are more reluctant to feed. I was wondering what people do when they feed? Flow on or off? Also, I plan to do the same procedure when feeding pellets or frozen from now on to get them into a feeding routine.

I use feeding mode on my Current USA setup. It just turns off the wave pump for 10 minutes. I usually add the food in a low current part of the tank as well so it can sink down vs. getting blown around by my return pump.

Depends on the fish, with a mix you probably want both. Case in point: I have two banggai cardinals that eat out of the water column, I feed with the flow off so while they gobble up the freshly added stuff, once it's settled, they stop eating, and then when the pumps come back on, it kicks up some of the frozen they missed and they go dashing after it again. I've also got two mandarins which simply can't 'hunt' for the frozen food fast enough when it's blowing away in the flow, so I feed with the pumps off so they can get a crack at it, then after 5-10 mins turn it back on. The orange spot goby can eat in the full flow, but he seems to be much better at methodically getting pellets or chunks of things with the flow off, and then he often ascends in the tank to have a look - a behavior I've never seen with the pumps on full.

They definitely can be scared of a change, but they will likely quickly get used to it. I've been turning off my flow at around 10pm to try to catch spawns recently, and after a few repetitions a bunch of fish that normally wouldn't stray from the rockwork will travel around in the twilight because of the low flow conditions, and some of the other fish that would normally be out will be higher in the water column or in different parts of the tank than if the pumps were running.

Mine totaly ignores food if pumps are off.....

I guess they are too lazy, or totaly not hungry, but they dont come for food, its easier to stay at one place and wait that water brings food to them.

So, mostly i just turn off return, and let food circulates trough tank for 15 minutes....

When i feed corals then i kill all of pumps, and then fishes eat when pumps are back onmmmm

I leave it on because what happens is the larger pieces get chopped up by the return pumps and become food for the smaller fish. This way not much ever settles unless something catches it.

I turn off flow for pellets, and leave flow on for reef frenzy. I think the important thing is to maintain consistency, so the fish know whats happening.

I use to turn off the flow, now I just leave it on. One annoying thing is sometimes when I turn off the Nero 5 to feed, the lawnmower blenny would go in there to chill. I always make sure I see the blenny out of that before I turn it back on and sometimes its really hard to spot the blenny since they blend in with my rocks so well.

I leave mine on. Mainly I would forget to turn off and the autofood part is not set on the system to turn pumps off. I like watching my fish dart all over and fight a bit for food. More fun.
It is funny when one of my small guys gets a big piece and swims all over with it like a dog with a big bone or stick.

This same thing happened with my fish after I set up a feed button on my Apex. I thought about not using it, until I observed that the fish were using so much more of the food. After about 5 days, not only did they get used to it, but they got excited when I would hit the button. I am feeding less, and they are eating more. I am surprised how much food found its way into the filter.
