This new AI Nero 5 pump seems really interesting. Its a standalone pump which can be programmed via your phone to simulate various modes over a 24 hr cycle.

Modes are pretty much the same as the other brands like Ecotech, Jebao, gyre etc etc

-Is there any advantage of having multiple modes over a 24hr cycle?

For people without aquarium controllers such as Apex, Profilux:

-Are Nero 5s and to some extent Gyres the only pumps on the market with this feature?
(Gyre users have 2 preset 24hr cycles they can choose, but it's fixed.)

I know there are benefits to having the flow reversed throughout the day, a feature made popular with gyre pumps. It helps reduce the number of dead flow zones in the tank to practically zero.

I have also heard of folks lowering the flow of their tank at night to give their fish some rest from the current, but tides and currents don't stop at night in the wild and fish will naturally find quiet spots to sleep in so that feature isn't necessary in my opinion.

I would agree regarding reduced flow at night. I use vortech pumps and keep them at the same random percentage 24/7. I'm a diver and there is no difference in the ocean between day and night. If I had a fish only tank, I'd consider giving the fish a break, but having a coral tank, I want the flow to be what's best for them.
