Hey guys, howmany lph canister would be enough to run carbon/gfo/purige, etc in a canister filter? plannin on sunsun or eheim, not for filteration but for filter medias, as i dont want the issue of maintaining so many reactors also coz of space and ease of maintanance.

Hm. Many canisters are even more difficult to maintain, so I would focus on that aspect in your research. (Back in the day I would have recommended a Magnum canister, but they are all discontinued now and I'm not familiar with any of the newer canisters on the market.)

Any canister is going to be designed to run chemical media like GFO and activated carbon, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Just make sure it's easy to open, clean, refill and close.

Yes but whats the recomended flow rate, os 3 to 4 times the tank volume per hour enough?

yup the cheap sun sun $60 on amazon i think. watch addition amounts of gfo and carbon as in a reactor it strip the WC quick. a canister is a very good reactor. so amount of gfo is as, or more important than flow rate.
set up correctly a hob aquaclear is actually the next compared to a can, if you adjust the amount.
. just floss is fine but when I run it Im cleaning monthly or every other week if i'm really trying to knock down detritus.

+1 to everything said....except I might recommend going with the cheapest thing your LFS has vs going to Amazon.

I love Aquaclears....also loved the old Whispers with the "biobag". I'd re-use those biobags like people here re-use filter socks! :D

I have a spare new eheim 2000 pump, so plannin to buy sunsun hw603. My tank is 450 to 500ltr, so u guess the the 2000lph might be around 1000lph as the water passes thru the canister. Will add gfo/phosguard and carbon and purigen with jus1 or maybe 2 sponges. Canister will be cleaned every month and the media will be replaced then

I looked that canister up on Amazon.

"What customer's purchase after viewing this item: Marineland filter cartridges!"

That says something about this canister. I'm not sure what....but it says something. :D :D :D

Does it have some way to break siphon and block the hoses so there's no mess when opening it for service? I can't tell.

The SunSun (Aquatop...same thing) is pretty ingenious.
The two hoses (inlet and outlet) are attached to a single attachment assembly that is a separate part from the canister. This attachment assembly is then pushed into the canister lid via a watertight connection.

Here's the genius part...to remove the hose assembly, you raise a lever which simultaneously closes two ball valves (one on each hose) and then disengages the hose assembly from the canister lid.

If a drop of water ever hits your floor while working on your SunSun, you're doing something wrong.

Close the vals and remove..
