In preparation for installing a Klir filter I built a manifold to install the Neptune flow meter. The manifold is 1.25" at the pump (Octo Varios-6") reduced to 1" hose to 1" PVC. The first valve is for the media reactor. The second valve is for future expansion. The final outlet is a 5/8" barb for the return as that is what the Reefer 350 uses. I went with 1" for the Neptune 1" flow meter, and according to the flow meter I am getting 316GPH with the Varios at 80% and 336GPH at 100%. Although visually the flow looks fine that seems low for a pump rated at 1720 GPH. I'm guessing it's the 5/8" return input on the tank, it's funny that Red Sea recommends 790GPH and it doesn't seem like that kind of flow can happen with a low pressure pump through a 5/8" connection.

Hopefully I'll get the adapter for the Klir built tomorrow.

Questions usually have a question mark at the end, bro [emoji6]

What can we help you with?

Sorry about that, I thought saying it was a would have been sufficient.

My question is whether the measured flow seems correct or not? I am assuming the issue is with the 5/8" return feed but wanted some verification.

With that section of 5/8" tubing and the two barbs, I think the 300-350 gph measured value is probably valid. That is a significant restriction. I doubt that Red Sea ever really agree with your conclusion.

Thanks for the reply, they probably wouldn't agree. :)

The flow I have seems sufficient for the tank, I was just wondering if my logic was sound. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to increase the size of the return for the tank and I'd rather not risk damaging it. It could be an expensive accident. As someone on another forum had mentioned, because they recommend a 790GPH pump doesn't mean they expect that volume of flow in the tank.
