I currently have a 200 gallon 60x30x24 and I am running 2 vortech mp 60s on it. However, I still have dead spots in the tank that are bugging me because all the detritus builds up there. Would you suggest adding mp40s or a tunze wavebox?

What about a couple of MP10s to cover the dead spots. Just curious is it a dead spot where the flow does not reach or a flow "eddy" depositing the detris there. Can you do some aquascaping to change the currents around in the tank to prevent the problem without having to purchase new hardware?

The Mp10s magnets wouldn't be strong enough for the glass thickness. My aquascape is very open but for some reason the flow isn't strong enough in that area where all the detritus builds up from flow pushing it there.

I had the same issue, running a single MP60 on my 48x30x24. I added an old Tunze 6100 that seems to help.

My suggestion would be to strategically position some small tunze pump. Their linear flow is really good for getting detritus out of areas that are blocked by wide gentle flow.

Can you move the mp60s so the dead spots are some place you can easily siphon the detritus out?

Is there a chance of moving one of the m60s and then programing a pump cycle to change flow direction that can cover the dead spot or at least move it around the tank. Following this thread to see what others suggest and what you do for a solution solution. This type of thread is very benifcial.

I've chased the same thing for years, seems like there will always be dead spots no matter what you do. Now I am down to one MP60 and siphon out any build up with h20 changes. Maybe some sand sifters will stir it up and get it back into the flow...
