Has anyone ever used a flow through heater with titanium element from a hot tub system on a multi tank reef system and if so, what did you use for a controller?

I've never done this but, in reading about the heaters and the casing some of them sit in this would seem like it's feasible... The plastic housing on some are ozone safe and the fact that it's a titanium element is also a good thing... I would use a Ranco Digital Controller, if you don't have an apex.

Maybe others on the [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] could give you additional options...

I have never heard much about these but I will do some research and see if I can find anything.

I agree with 143 with the caveat that the amps/watts of the heater doesn't exceed the ratings on the Ranco. If I'm not mistaken the Ranco I'm familiar with is rated at 16 amps. If that's the case, and my little beany button remembers electricity, you don't want to exceed.....16 amps X 120 volts = 1920 watts....so nothing larger than 1920 watts.

Now after typing that, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Ranco makes controllers rated at higher draw of electricity.
