You’ll be better off adding a powerhead for some adjustable flow. For that size tank an AI Nero 3 is a great pump.

Do you think a cheap one would work £30-£50 only for softies and lps

Most likely that cheap pump will burn up and need replacing in a year or so. As with anything you get what you pay for. Not saying it won’t work for your application but there are better options to consider.
