I've just bought some fluconazole for my system to tackle bryopsis. Is the dosage on the bottle for fish treatment the same as you would use for the whole tank treatment of algae?

The recommended dosage is 20 mg/gallon. However, I and others will tell you that 1/2 that dose works and is less stressful on corals. I will also tell you it will likely take multiple treatments. In other words, after you have treated and run carbon at the end, Bryopsis will likely come back (might be a month or so later). This is why I quit using full-doses as it was affecting some acros and maybe other corals. I used a half-dose and had the same results in killing Bryopsis but no effect on any corals (I'm not sure some didn't look even better). When you see new growth, just hit with another dose and run the treatment cycle. It took me 3 treatments, and it has been 1.5 months since I removed the last dose with carbon, and no Bryopsis has come back so far.

Old thread but it came up in a search and I wanted to add to your experience.

I had some hammers (~50 heads) with GHA growing up them. I don't have a large CUC so there was no real way to get the GHA off. My nutrients were in check and the GHA wasn't taking over the tank of anything.

I decided to move these hammers to a 20g QT and try fluconozale. I dosed 1 200mg tablet in the 20g of water and noticed an effect within a few days to a week. Now about 10days in and the GHA has totally faded and is clearly dying. I have the same lights on the QT (a360) as I did in the DT.

So for future readers: it's probably worth trying half the recommended dose and go with 200mg/20g and see if you achieve results.

Reef Flux and regular Fluconazole from drug store are the same i believe? and requires same dosage? thank you
