No you don’t need to run an air stone durning treatment. Keep an eye on your nitrates through the process. Remove any macro algae fluconazole with kill it off. After the treatment period 20% water change.

Not all macro is affected. From my understanding it is mainly just caulerpa that reacts poorly to it.

I’ve used it several times. You don’t need an air stone. Half of my Chaeto died.
