So is fluconazole legit? I️ have a frag covered in bryopsis. It’s re-fragged and in QT now. But my sand bed took a beating. I️ removed a lot by hand but can see more sprouting a week later. I️t seems to have rooted pretty good. I️ bought some fluconazole just want to hear some experiences before I️ use I️t. I️ read that thread by ncreefguy kinda talked me into I️t. Great read.

Here's a before and after (one week) of my frag tank that I used fluconazole on. It works like magic, if the algae is in fact bryopsis. Did leave the aiptasia however. Lol

Can you confirm the dose you are using please? I’ve performed two treatments so far and it keeps coming back.

The first time I used it I dosed 10mg per gallon. The bryopsis came back within a month. Then next time I dosed 20mg per gallon and it seems to have done the trick. Time will tell, but many guys that have been successful long term have, and are, dosing 20mg per gallon.

Thanks! I need to try the higher dose.

20 mg per gallon. I am doing it now. It's been in longer than the 10 day recommendation and I am leaving it a bit longer. I put it in the 21st of Dec. It's working for me. I'll be it a bit slower than I expected.

I understand no carbon. Can you turn the skimmer back on after 6 days?

My skimmer has been hooked up the whole time(since Dec 21), but it's set to only collect the worst of the worst. I have only pulled about 1 cup of liquid off.

Is Fluconazole OK for soft corals?
I have a torch, pulsing xenia and zoas. They all handled it fine along with my sps's. Some people have had trouble with hard and soft corals but in my understanding it has been very few. It's a risk you take. If I had to, I would do it again and again. In my opinion it is a very low risk.

Just completed a 3rd here...slightly higher concentration this time. Looking good. No issues with a bunch of zoas, hammer, frogs spawn, candy cane, mushrooms, plate coral, Duncan, a can, blasto, montipora, birds nest, and a couple other SPS.

Before I start this, just to confirm, it is 20mg per day for 14 days, correct?

OK. Thank you very, very much. My fish, coral, and I truly appreciate it. You are a very valuable source of information.
