hi I treated my tank with fluconzola a few months ago have preformed a few water changes after just took water to my buddy to test phosphate and it pegged at 200 I don’t over feed and have no algae what so ever I’m performing a 9 gallon water change in a bit. Any thought that the medication caused this ?

That's strange, never noticed a phosphate spike after the treatment. No way it could be a testing error? Unless something was really binding phosphate and let go.

We used 2 Hanna digital testers and it was 200 on both pegged I don’t know why scratching my head any suggestions?

Me too! I'm wondering if it's possible for the rock to release phosphate after the algae has been eradicated. The rock could've been so bound up with phosphate and feeding the algae so now that it's gone its releasing? Shot in the dark.

Well just did 9 gallons of new salt water with a heavy vacuuming so I’m goin g to check the phosphates tomorrow and go from there fingers crossed

Water change probably won't reduce the phosphates down enough - consider GFO or perhaps Phosphat-E

Right got this too

Looks like the right stuff. From other posts that I've read, there is the possibility of lowering the phosphate levels too quickly and shocking corals, so it's worth reading the instructions in detail ;-)

Thanks George and everyone else I’ve done the water change and put the media in so will keep everyone updated in a day or two as to the progression of phosphate removal.
