fluidized bed filter question....

hey all....finally back to my 75 gal display with 40gal sump. Im thinking about using the refugium area for a K1 fluidized bed.....Its about a 9 gal area.
Im planning on either two lionfish or starting out a bamboo shark. Is K1 okay for this? how much would I need, and how do you replenish the media? (just scoop out randomly?)
all ideas are welcome!

Fluidized beds bacame a lil popular on saltwater tanks a few decades back. Now not so much. The only place I see them being very effective is on planted tanks. Think refuge to grow macro is a better use of space

thanks! great to be back on track! okay, one vote for chaeto. the media bed gets wow factor Im sure, but I want to do the best for the setup.
