Hi

I'm in the process of stocking up my 1000L tank. I built the tank more than a year ago but due to my work i was unable to stock the tank properly.

I had the tank running for about 8 months only with anemones and other inverts.

about 3 months ago i added my first fish a tang(Scopas). This guy was added only after a 15minute freshwater dip. In the DT he was perfect, eating well etc. about 2 weeks ago i added a cleaner wrasses and a sand sifting Goby. New additions were after 4weeks of hypo salinity and observation. there was nothing wrong with these 2 fish when i added them.

today when i checked the tank the tang is missing. [it had not jumped out, i checked]

wrasses and the Goby are just fine behaving as normal.

I'm ripping my hair off trying to figure out what happen to the tang? I'm thinking, could it be fluke ?
the reason why i think it could be fluke is there was a slight protrusion on the stomach, didn't look normal. but the fish was as normal, eating well.

if it is flukes do i catch the other 2 fish and teat them and leave the DT fallow?

I have 2 Purple tangs and 1 stripped tang and some more wrasses in the QT. I don't want to take a chance.

please advice

thanks

Did the protrusion look like it was internal (below the skin of the fish) or like something was attached to the fish?

If it was internal, I don't believe it would be flukes, especially if you took the necessary precautions and QT'ed the fish.

Hi nautical

what do you mean by "if you took the necessary precautions and QT'ed the fish"?

Only thing i did was fresh water dip for 15 minutes and put it in the DT.

since this was the only fish for 3 months my DT was like a QT don't you think?

My worry is, is it safe to move the other fish from the QT to DT?

thanks

Faz
