Flukes, advice on HT procedure

Hopefully no flukes is there to begin with, but yes run another round of prazi just to be on the safe side. Also prazipro is safe to dose in tank except for ornamental worms (like feather dusters) so if you discover flukes in tank and you don't worry about the worms in the tank then dose it directly there.
Thanks I'll run another course in QT but I'm trying to avoid dosing my reef as I have read it can damage or kill xenia and star polyps, both of which I have a fair amount of. I might do another test fw dip to see if anything shows up before I dose for peace of mind.

Hello all, further update and follow up question!

After 2 rounds of prazi and 21 days feeding metroplex my clownfish and flame angel have been placed back in the DT, both with a fw dip first to double check for flukes (none present).

I was having ammonia issues in the larger QT (as discussed in another thread) so decided to move the coral beauty and banggai into my other qt (with rock and gravel, previous home of flame angel) as the filter bacteria & pH readings are much more stable. I have started to feed them with kanaplex (have not dosed the water due to the presence of biofilm, as pointed out by @Humblefish in the other thread) and will see how things progress, if feeding the med doesn't help I will place back in the bare QT once I know its stable again and treat the whole tank. The coral beauty currently has no fin damage but still looks a little washed out to me, I was going to release the banggai in to the DT but when I saw him up-close in a fish bag I could see his fin edged are slightly eroded so have decided to keep him out and treat with kana too. I should probably point out that I have been using DT water for my QT water changes for the most part, particulary when trying to reduce ammonia as it meant I didnt have to wait for the new water to heat up first.

The flame angel has been in the DT for a couple of days and I can now see that its tail fin is slightly eroded, looks like a little chunk is missing, catching him again is not an option at this stage, my mandarin and clowns seem unaffected although as with the banggai any slight fin fraying may not be visible until the fish is viewed up close in a fish bag.

I was hoping to get your thoughts on possible root causes of the problem, I guess it must be a husbandry related issue but as far as I can tell everything is in order. I feed formula 2 flake daily and enriched frozen brine (occasionally mysis). I use gamma brine shrimp quartet (a random mix of 2 out of the following - plain, spirulina, garlic, aloe vera, omega 3) and add brightwell AminOmega and Calanus spray (http://food4fish.co.uk/product/calanus-enrichment-uptake-system/67/) to the frozen before feeding. The banggai only eats frozen, won't touch the flake.

Water params in the DT are - Sal 1.026 / pH 8.05 avg / NO3 1ppm / PO4 0.08 / Alk 9.3 / NO2 0 / NH4 0 / Temp swings from 25-26c several times/day (its on a controller with 1C tolerance). I stopped running GAC (suspected cause of HLLE in coral beauty), dose 9ml vibrant weekly and 4.5ml NoPox daily.

Aside from fish I have various soft corals, 2 tiny hermits, 4 peppermint shrimp, 1 cleaner shrimp, 2 conch and 2 urchins. I did wonder if the peppermints were getting a bit too 'grabby' with the little angel but this wouldnt explain the banggai's fins in QT.

I have ordered some brightwell Vitmarin-M and am attempting to get the angels to eat nori by tearing it up and feeding it like flake, so far they are ignoring it. I was considering getting a UV also, I know it would never eliminate any bacterial problems completely but might help??

Thanks in advance, I apologise for the long post and I'm grateful for the assitance. I'm also thankful that it appears to only be a relatively minor bacterial problem rather than anything more sinister but its very frustrating nontheless knowing the fish are not quite right.

@Claus84 Sounds like a lingering bacterial issue with the fish. Assuming water quality is good, I would stick with the vitamin soaking approach. Also, a UV is excellent for eliminating free floating bacterium in the water. It does a better job of that (because free floating bacteria are few) than free swimming parasites (which are many).

Brilliant, I was hoping that would be the case with the UV. Just been doing my research and ordered a decent looking 20w model, hopefully this, vitamins and some patience on my part will solve it for good!

Thanks again

@Humblefish apologies but I have a couple more follow up questions if you don't mind, the flame angel now has small black marks appearing, mostly on the underside of its body and anal fin, I am wondering if this is due to the bacterial infection or if it possibly might be black ich, they are all similar sized (grain of salt) fitting the black ich description. There are no visible marks on my clowns. Is it possible the bacterial infection seen primarily in my angels and banggai has been a secondary infection from black ich all along? I never saw any spots on the coral beauty but depending upon placement on her body they would almost certainly be less visible than on the flame and the same for the banggai I guess. I have also noticed the flame visiting my cleaner shrimp on a couple of occasions.

I have the UV up and running but am now wondering whether to stick with the UV/vitamin plan or potentially run a couple of courses of prazipro in the DT first. I understand this would require me to turn the UV off so I didn't want to rush ahead and make a bad call. Presumably if prazi is only active for 24-48hours I could turn the UV back on after a couple of days between doses?

I don't have any feather dusters and thought I could move my xenia and possibly my urchins to a fallow QT for at least 4 weeks before placing back in the DT as I gather xenia reacts badly to prazi and I don't want to risk hurting the urchins.

Thanks once again!

@Claus84 Sounds like Black Ich on the Flame, but can you post pics?

You can run a UV/carbon 24 hours after dosing prazi.

Thanks, this is the best image I can get of the flame, its way too quick for my crappy camera, hopefully you can just about make out the small black spots on its tail fin and belly, I'm not sure how clear it is in the image but the area around its dorsal fin has darkened on both sides also, looks a bit like a rash so I'm guessing this is a symptom of the bacterial infection. I noticed the dots yesterday so am I right in thinking that they should in theory dissapear in 4 or 5 days time and head for the substrate?

I've also noticed 2 small fuzzy looking marks on my banggai's pectoral fin, they appear raised when viewed from the side, possibly lymph?? I only put it back in the DT yesterday as its frayed fins had healed and my coral beauty was giving it a hard time in QT
