I have a quarantine running with fish in it. My salinity is at about 1.012. This morning I woke up and there were a whole bunch of white flakes on the bottom of the tank. I had added fish about 2 or 3 days ago. They look like the white flakes that come off with a fresh water dip (flukes). Is it possible for the flukes to die and come off like that, and to be able to see them visually from hypo salinity?

Not clear enough to really see.

Neobenedenia does look like that, but those could also be scales knocked off a fish due to an altercation.

How long have you been at 1.012?

Jay

Edit: they look to large to be flukes. Can you try to get a photo of one in a small container using your phone and then trying to enlarge it?

Thanks Jay. I will see if I can get a better picture.

I have been at 1.012 for a week now. I do have anthias in there that have been fighting also
