ive found tons of helpful info on here about flukes. But even individual articles seem to contradict themselves. Can anyone speak from experience?

1 Royal Gramma in 10 gallon QT w live rock
2 QT mates died (fire goby, Sixline wrasse)
freshwater dip #1 - 2 flukes fell off
Freshwater dip #2 (1 week later) - no flukes
Prazi banned where I’m from ‍♀️
Going the hyposaljnity route

The plan: slowly lower salinity over a week until we reach 15ppt. Hold for 1 week. Slowly raise salinity back to normal. Freshwater dip. Observe.

Questions:
- is 1 week at 15ppt sufficient?
- how quickly can I raise salinity back to normal?
- assuming all goes well, how long should I observe fish before putting it in DT?
- anyone had long term success using hypo to treat flukes? I’ve gotten really attached to this little guy and I’d hate to lose him :( or her

Your S.G will need to be at 1.009 and don’t forget to buffer for PH. Here is an article on it.

Awesome thx!!! This is 1 of the 2 articles I had come across in my search of this wonderful forum. It seems to contradict itself though so I’m confused. It says to treat for 30 consecutive days but it also says
“Scientific research also showed hyposalinity at 15 ppt (1.011 SG) for 2 days eliminated juvenile and adult flukes. When maintained for 5 days, egg hatching was prevented.”So why wouldn’t 5 days do it? Why 30? Am I just missing something obvious?

The 30 is for ich, I believe 5 days for flukes is all that is needed. If it were me I’d probably do 7 days to be safe.
