Hello,

Is this Flukes or something else on my Firefish? Sorry for the blue picture on the first one.. I noticed them as my lights were turning off and wanted to snap this pic before he darted into his cave. The second pic is from the day before.. I didn't notice anything before but after going back and looking I see some markings on his side in a different spot.

Other than the markings he is acting perfectly fine, eating good and no flashing or anything just hanging out normally. I checked on him last night during feeding and did not see any markings on him. He looks completely normal now.

I did order some Prazi-Pro just in case.

How long have you had the fish? Did it undergo any quarantine? It could be flukes, but fire fish also have their own species of parasitic copepod. It could also just be an inconsequential bump.

Hey Jay, I got this fish on Saturday. Unfortunately no QT (I know, I know), first SW tank and was hoping to get by without one originally, but now I am in the process of trying to find a place in my house for a QT tank and then trying to find a small tank I can use for future QTs.

Would the flukes or parasitic copepod just disappear overnight like that? Between the blue picture and the next morning there was nothing on him (and nothing on any of the other fish either)

Should I go ahead and dose the prazi or just keep an eye on him?

Oh! I had the order of the pics backward! I thought the blue pic was now, and the normal one from yesterday. I would be prepared to have a QT, but don’t move the fish to it unless the spot(s) return.

The blue pic was from last night (tuesday) and the normal pic was Monday afternoon. Today there is not a spot or marking on him anywhere, He looks completely normal now.

I will just keep an eye on him for now. Thank you!
