I have quarantined my majestic angel for over 2 months now. He was infected with ich and what looks like flukes. I treated cupramine for 30 days and did Prazi pro once. The other week I prepared to put him in the display tank. Before putting him in I bathed him in H2O2 for 30 minutes at 150 ppm. Afterwards I noticed discoloration and spots on him around his head, mouth and nose. He is fine now, but was wondering if folks think it was additional flukes coming off from the bath?

What was your peroxide dose? Those do look like marks from where Neobenedenia flukes have dropped off, did you check the bottom of the bucket for dead flukes? One prazi treatment alone will not control Neobenedenia, as it does not effect the eggs.

Thanks Jay. The dose was 150 ppm for 30 minutes. I did not check the bottom of the bucket (should have). Would they have appeared in the bottom of the bucket with H2O2 and salt water? It was not a fresh water bath.

I am kicking myself as I now realize I need two Prazi treatments. Do the eggs leave the host or they stay on the host?

I always use FW as a diagnostic dip for Neobenedenia. I’m just recently been experimenting with peroxide. The eggs leave the host and have sticky tendrils, so they attach to rocks, nets, etc. two prazi treatments won’t take case of them (although that will work for other species). I use 35 days at half salinity...so hopefully, your fish doesn’t have Neo!

I am going to try and fish him out tonight and do a fresh water dip. What is considered half salinity? I heard running 7 days at 15 ppt will eliminate flukes?
