Will a fish survive with flukes if kept healthy (similar to fish with ich) or are flukes a ticking time bomb that'll kill your fish if not treated. I have a prazi resistant strain

There are three different families of Monogeneans that primarily infect saltwater fish. So, it’s impossible to lump them all into one group as far as how virulent and fast spreading they are. However, once a fish has flukes they never leave (they don’t drop off the fish like ich trophonts do); so it’s likely only a matter of time before the fish succumbs to them or more likely, a secondary infection from them.

So is there no way to get them better? What about copper?

Can I treat them all in one shot with medicine in a quarantine tank?

Or would putting all my fish in a hypo tank cure it? Sorry I'm just confused on how to permanently fix my problem. If your saying they never leave a fish, then what's the purpose of prazi etc?

If I’m understanding correctly, your fish in the DT have flukes, correct?

If so, why not just dose Prazipro right in your DT: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/prazipro.247598/

It is mostly a reef safe medication (save tube worms, feather dusters, etc.), and works by causing flukes to spasm on the fish & dislodge. Once they have fallen off, the flukes die on the bottom of your aquarium.

I have a prazi resistant strain [emoji20] I dosed twice on two separate occasions with no luck. Another person saw photos of what I have and also said the look like a prazi resistant strain

Should I dose again? Maybe three or four dose cycle?

Do you have corals? Hypo can be done in a DT with no corals/inverts.

I did a cycle in dt and it was very successful getting rid of practically all issues except hypo resistant ich, but the process was miserable dealing with ammonia spikes and what not from die off. I have a bunch of inverts but currently no corals

Hypo not cycle.

I'm going to try dosing prazi for a total of 4 or 5 times to see if that works

Have you considered using Ruby Reef Rally. It contains acriflavine and a bit of formalin. They claim it will take care of flukes. Never tried it for that myself. Something to consider perhaps.

If this next cycle of prazi doesn't work I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Humble : Can you dose prazi in a tank that is full of anemones ? I asked that question elsewhere and got no answer...thnx

Yes, but don’t be surprised if they bleach a little. They should bounce back provided you don’t overdose Prazi.

I have dosed prazi every three days for nine days now, and so far it looks like it's being effective.

All fish are fine except my yellow tang. He wouldn't eat as often once I first started dosing a few weeks ago, then he practically didn't eat at all. I looked at my tank after work two days ago and he died [emoji26]. My flame cardinal looks a little pale and all aren't eating as much.. As expected. Probably only five or so more days left then hopefully I'll be done for good
