Hello, today I noticed the coraline on the back of a snail turned bright fluo pink. It used to be purple like on the mussel shell behind it.

Have you seen fluorescent coraline before?
Could this be caused by low PO4 levels (~0.06 ppm)?

Was exposed to air and is dying/bleaching

I have bright pink all through my tank, in different locations. It hasn't been exposed to any air, since the water has been in the tank. I have heard, perhaps I'm wrong, that it comes in different colors....?

Anytime I've moved powerheads and somehow blocked the light from coralline algea it will be very vibrant and orange before completely dying and turning white. It sure is pretty when dying though.

Pink, red, purple, green and sure there are other colors as well!!

I have a few colors of coralline in my tank that do this. I've noticed that not every species I have seems to do it. However, tonight I tooth brushed one of the rocks with peroxide to get rid of some hair algae and sure enough, the huge patch of coralline on it now has flourescent orange scratch marks all across it. It seems like the fluorescing pigments are underneath the top layer because I've noticed this before when trying to scratch a piece to seed the tank. As soon as your scratch the surface, instant fluorescing. Kind of interesting.
