Fluval 304 Cracked Impeller Cylinder

I recently inherited a old 304 canister that has a crack in the cylinder that the impeller sits in. It rotates smoothly but from what I understand the magnet assembly surrounds that plastic cylinder. Any way to salvage this filter or do I just trash it? I have a few tanks that would benefit from it and am on a budget.

If just the impeller cracked then you should be able to replace. I’ve got the 404 and I’ve replaced it and bought a backup. Here’s a link to petco replacement part for the 304:

Its actually a crack in the chamber that it sits in that I am worried about.

Oh...im wondering if that could expose the electrical coils to water. I’m not familiar with the inside.

That is what I am worried about. Is there any way to test for rust? Is it even worth my time?
