thanks man.I had o Fluval 405 on my 40 gallon reef back in the day. Only thing was the sponges gets clogged really fast and taking the filter out and cleaning it was a pain. After a few months when the tank has some age to it you’ll notice the filter will slow down a few days after cleaning it. Just fill with bio media and some coarse sponges. And don’t overstock the tank maybe 4-6 fish and clean up crew. And go for the easy to keep soft coral that like high nutrient water, and consider a hob protein skimmer and powerheads. Good luck with the tank.

I said back in the day. And those were my experiences. I haven’t had tanks with canister filters since 2011. Just trying to share my experiences to help someone with the hobby.???? A 405 is hardly comparable to the 07 series. You've skipped an entire 2 generations (how many hers apart?) of upgrades.
That's like calling an iPhone 12 probably slow because your iPhone 6 didn't compare in the day.
