Just recently finished my last (hopefully) upgrade project for my fluval in hopes that the system will be as stable as possible.
I installed a AWC system by utilizing two channels of my Jaebo DB-4 dosing pump connected to two Red Sea buckets capable of holding 1-1/4 gallons. I currently have it set to change out 1/2 gallon of water daily. I also recently finished my water mixing station in the basement and felt it a shame to not have some type of AWC on this system, mostly since I didn't want to constantly heat 40gal of water / circulate it in my mixing station.
In addition to this AWC system, dosing alk nightly.. mag/cal manually as needed.
I run an intank basket in chamber 1 with filter floss and purigen.
Sicce 1.0 return pump
I have a BRS reactor with the stock fluval pump powering it from chamber 2 that has carbon and GFO. (I run this only when needed)
Lighting is a single AI Prime HD 16
100 watt heater hooked up to a Inkbird 306A
Jaebo 0W10 power head
Tunze ATO handles pumping RODI water into the tank due to evaporation (5 gallon bucket)
My custom NSA scape is maturing nicely after adding it to the tank 2 months ago...nice growth of coralline algae on it.
Time to add more corals when I see how this AWC system acts and even more stability in the water parameters (before the AWC, they did not swing much). If the theory works, might upgrade the pumps to commercial state vs Jaebo.
Five fish are in my tank as well as soft, LPS and one SPS coral.
Happy to answer any questions.
Happy Reefing and Merry Christmas!
