Hello!

Just looking for some future suggestions for additional fish (if any) to add to my tank. Currently I have one clown in the tank with cerith (2), nassarius (2), and bumble bee (2) snails. I also have 2 hammer and one frogspawn corals in the tank. I previously had two clowns, however, my other died of stress as it was not a suited bachelor for my current clown. All in all, I’m just curious if I should try another clown down the line or if it would be better suited to try a different fish. Any input is appreciated!

Thanks

how old is your current clown? if it is older and more established, i would refrain from adding another due to territorial conflict and fighting. if it's still young and small, you could probably get away with a mate for it. however, think back to the circumstances under which your other clown died. why was it stressed? could it be that the existing clown bullied it? i would consider all of this before adding another one.

if another clown ends up not working out, some of my favorite nano fish are a goby + shrimp pair, a springer's damsel, or an orchid dottyback. you could also add additional character to your CUC with animals such as peppermint shrimp, hermit crabs, skunk cleaner shrimp, or my personal favorite, a fighting conch.

I would go with another clown that is same species and much smaller. Use a hamster ball to separate them and allow interaction.

Goby/Shrimp, firefish, court jester goby, cleaner goby are all good in a tank that size.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve had this clownfish for about 3 months so not sure if it’s considered young but I definitely wouldn’t say it is small anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if this clown is territorial as it did go after the other one at times, however, with me being new to saltwater I just thought it was normal for clowns, especially during pairing. I may just look into the others you suggested! Again, thanks
