So yesterday i was watching one of my snails crawl around near the overflow area. It then started to block some of the actual slots making my water level rise and my ATO starting to pump more water into sump due to more water being pushed into display area than was returning back into sump. I eventually moved him because i feared that that the tank would eventually push too much water into the display causing it to flow out the top. I was wondering if i could possibly cut the top part of the overflow off making it a bit lower than the other parts on the back wall. Thus, making it where it would flow back into the sump even if too much water got pushed into the display.

Has anyone does anything similar to this, or have any ideas. I definitely don't want water in my floor.

I had the same issue with my innovative marine nuvo 10. I ended up purchasing the innovative marine desktop overflow guards and it stopped the snails from blocking water pouring through the overflow, even with the snails on the guard itself. Im not sure if it would work with your tank, but it may be something to look at
