Hello everyone, so I’ve decided to get back into the hobby by starting a 5g reef until I can acquire everything for a large tank. Anyways, it’s the fluval Evo 5. The light was pretty underwhelming so I upgraded to the kessil A80 Tuna blue. I will eventually upgrade the return pump as well.

just got some rock in it tonight. I’m sure I’ll rearrange before too long

Sorry for the delay on this one, I have been busy setting up a 65g tank that a friend was getting rid of. In that move I ended up temporarily putting a few corals from that in this tank, along with a small starry blenny. Eventually I’ll move most of it back to the 65, I just didn’t want to lose anything in the move so it’s here for now. The green slimer was doing pretty bad prior to me taking the tank, hopefully it recovers. Definitely need to figure a way to increase flow in this tank though. And I’m trying to not add anything in the display

Are you still running the stock return pump? That would be an "easy" upgrade to boost flow without adding a wave maker or powerhead. Chamber 2 is tight, but the Cobalt MJ606 fits back there. You will have to either take off the front panel, or the back panel of the pump and grind/file off the little plastic nubbs (which is what I did). That upgrade really increased my flow. I also added in a VCA RFG nozzle, though to be honest I am considering putting the stock nozzle back on as the RFG gets knocked loose super easy, which is annoying.

The Cobalt can be kinda hard to find, but there are other brands with the same footprint: https://intankaquatics.com/newa-mini-submersible-water-pump-mn606-powerhead-84-159-gph/ Screenshot_20210810-194326_Chrome.jpg

Check out my Fluval V build. A 606 pump with a RFG was decent but adding a Hygger DC pump Was the cake topper and it's awesome!
