Why lolfluval canisters are garbage.
Super unhelpful answer from that guy. A lot of people don't run canisters on reef tanks because they consider them nitrate factories. They do get dirty quickly but if you can commit to cleaning them on a regular basis they work as intended. I had one on a tank and it was very useful to use for mechanical and chemical filtration as needed. For biological filtration I would look elsewhere, if you even need more. Why lol
I agree with this on the fluval 406 which I also have but the G3 really doesn't have much to it, so it's easy to clean and never really gets gunky like the 406Not garbage but not good for marine. They need to be cleaned at least weekly, which sounds nice at first but miss a few weeks and you have a detritus/nutrient trap.
I have 2 I've been using the 406 since julyish and the G3 since Novemberish. Just seeing if anyone out there used one and what filtration they were using with it and how often they clean theirsSuper unhelpful answer from that guy. Oh god.. I just got over the dinos. So what is the difference with a sumprunning it empty will produce the same benefit as running it packed full of surface area media, its of no benefit other than water movement and adsorbing material for altering n and p levels, which brings on dinos eventually ./
@brandon429 Thats not true. What we do to remove po4 and no3 does not the canister or sumpOh god.. I just got over the dinos. So what is the difference with a sump
Same all my coral look great and only clean it prob once a month too. Have you had a dinos outbreak?I run the fluval fx4. Love it tank can't be drilled so I use what I use.
Sps lps softies nems they can work and do work. Clean mine once a month.![]()
Yes because I was running heavy gfo to remove phosphates and carbon dosing. That created dino. Not the canisterSame all my coral look great and only clean it prob once a month too. Have you had a dinos outbreak?
