Fluval salinity tester scared the hell out of me!

Looked at my fluval salinity tester just now and it was saying salt was of the chart high. I freaked out and took it out and put it back in and read it just fine. I thought for a second I accidentally topped off my tank with my salt mixed RO. But it was just reading it wrong. This ever happen to anybody. I almost had a heart attack

Never happened to me but I would like to know, when water evaporates, does salinity go up?

yes your salinity will go up as water evaporates. returns to normal when you top off.

So salinity constantly fluctuates?

Yes, The salt Dosent evaportate, Just the water. Upon topoff Salinity returns to normal.

Salt doesn't exit the tank thru evaporation like water. So when water evaporates salinity will keep goin up until you add more water.
