Hi all,

Disassembling my Fluval SP6 for cleaning. When I tried to remove the cover as the directions state, the impeller cover and impeller assembly came out in one piece (see pictures). I can't see a way to get them apart. According to the instructions (also pictured) the cover should have come off separately from the impeller assembly.

Any suggestions? I tried to gently pop them apart with a screwdriver, no go.

Luckily I was swapping it out for an identical pump so it isn't a matter of urgency.

TIA,

Cindy

I have the exact same issue. The instructions on the Fluval web site are faulty - there is no way that I can see to remove the impeller/magnet from the front cover. Those instructions appear to be for a different version of the pump. My sp2 is a piece of cake to clean but not this one...

I just saw the updates to this thread, sorry. They did pop apart but I had to use more force that I would have expected.
