Hello,
Here is my Innovative Marine Nuvo 30L tank started on 1/20/15. This is my first attempt at getting back into the hobby after a move to NYC 3 years ago and having to break down and sell my 120G mixed reef tank. Kind of a sad story, it was sold on consignment at my LFS and an employee plugged the Titanium heater into an open outlet instead of the Apex controller energy bar, killing everything in it. The guy got fired and the owner just cut me a check for like 1/4 of what I had paid for everything. Not much I could do, I was 2000 miles away. Oh well i'm super excited to get back into the hobby, even if it's on a smaller scale. My idea is to take my time and only select really nice pieces.
The lights are a Current Marine Orbit led 36-48" strip. I also have an MP10 and the IM Medium Ghost Skimmer. The heater is 150W Neotherm from Cobalt Aquatics. I started with 35 LBS of Pukani dry rock seeded with 1 lb of live rock from the LFS. I used 30 lbs of Agra-alive live sand. I also run filter floss on the two overflows.
The stand is a marble top side board from Restoration Hardware.
the current stock list is
Inverts
30 hermits
20 astrea snails
20 nassarius snails
10 cerith snails
1 banded coral shrimp
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
1 feather duster worm
Fish
1 Yellow (of corse it's brown) goby, (thanks liveaquaria!)
1 Tenaka's Pygmy Wrasse
1 Firefish
Corals
1 Green and Red War Coral
1 Hammar coral
1 Blasto
2 Duncans
1 Candy Coral
1 Mushroom Leather
1 Random Brown SPS (not sure what it is, it was sent to me by liveaquaria by mistake)
1 pineapple coral, (it's now two. The rubber band used on the plug split it in half. Thanks again liveaquaria!)
I'm trying to figure out what to add next. I'm taking it slow. About a piece a month. I really want a clown but it might not be fair to the three peaceful fish. Also the goby and wrasse rarely come out as is. I just want a colorful fish that will swim out in the open.
I think for corals i want to add some Acans. I'm not sure about SPS corals with the current lighting set up I have. We shall see how the one does and go from there.
I might add an auto top off at some point. I might also add a second return pump for redundancy.
Any ideas on fish or corals would be appreciated
Thanks!
-Matt
