I'll have to look back at the shots I have of his collections, I don't recall seeing it, but I don't think I knew what it was back then either

As for the jabawaki, has anyone tried changing the amount of light to get the blue/purple color darker?

I've tried around 10 places in my tank.

I know he had it because I remember seeing it when he sold off his personal collection in a thread ;)

Ugh, my eye hurts from winking so much! :snicker:

I wonder if higher nutrients in the water would help?

That is always a option that not many think about due to people try to go uln as possable. I doubt that is it though knowing he had that many rare chalices thought.

My tank used to be at 20ppm and .09 respectively for quite some time :( I think it just has to do with it being a recent import when it hit the market, but who really knows.

Well, of course one can't say for certain, since there's no telling what the importation process did to the color. But, I have seen some ULN systems and the chalices were pale, so it was just a thought :)

I concur with you, although i have seen the frags and they do look sweeter then the colony i think.

+1 on frags looking sweeter!

Not mine!

Frags always look great when the contrasting rim is >30% of the total surface area of the coral :nerd:

I was also one of the lucky ones to get a frag of the jaba from Matt. I almost lost it due to some tank issues. It is a slow grower. I don't see fragging it anytime in the near future. Shame to hear the mother colony was lost.
