Hi :). I’m currently in the building process of my first and custom rimless tank (200 g). I’m planning to put something underneath the tank but I’m a little confused what to put.

Could you help me to decide please? there are few options that I know:

· Pink Styro (Extruded)

· Neoprene

· White foam (Expanded)

Thanks!

Third-party custom or DiY custom. If the former, ask the tank maker what he recommends. If the latter, then it depends upon whether it's a flat or rimmed bottom.

Neoprene like BRS sells or one of those very thin yoga mats works real well for me. Yoga mat is way cheaper at Wally World ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you think is feasible to use a yoga mat in long term? I mean, is a rubber and it will deteriorate over the time?

Is a third party custom tank, with flat bottom bought in a local fish store. I asked as well to the sellers and they recommend to put some kind of cheap rubber that they sell. I be honest, I live in Mexico and here the most time the LFS try to sell no matter if they product works or not. I'm very mistrustful about the sellers.

My current tank is flat-bottom acrylic, and the manufacturer said that either the pink rigid foam or the more traditional white stuff would suffice - as long as it was at least 1/2" thick. So there is one data point at least LOL.

I have the BRS neoprene under my 90 and cut up yoga mats under my coral and fish quarantine tanks. Works great.
