I am fascinated by these new lights. I’m very curious as to just what degree this true simulated solar movement effects coral growth. It’s something I’m surprised hasn’t been done till now, without moving the entire fixture of course. Anyone using these?

I know some labs use moving lights to reduce lighting needs for a system, but these are definitely interesting from a hobbyist viewpoint. I can imagine it would look cool for a day or so, but after that I would probably get irritated that all of my corals weren't all lighted up at the same time and all exhibiting the same degree of coloration haha

I believe they illuminate the entire tank, only par values shift from center to sides, but doubt this movement is really visible except to the coral. You may have a 300 par value in the center which drops as day progresses is how a reviewer explained it.,

Okay, thanks for explaining that part to me :)

What I find interesting is that they are using the angle of the light to adjust par values over time, which of course most other high-end LED fixtures do as well, but through ramping. From my experiences diving, the angle of the sun doesn't impact the way light is diffused all that much from like 9am-3pm here in Florida. You'll get some intense shadowing in the early morning and late afternoon, but for the most part the light just slowly intensifies until the sun is at 90 degrees and slowly lowers in intensity from there.

Checkout the video review. Interesting....
