See attached. Is there anything I can do to help this anemone heal up? Is it a lost cause, should I put him out of his misery? I have read that almost every time there is foot damage, it is a lost cause, but I haven’t seen to many pictures that illustrate the severity. I would prefer he not suffer, and/or nuke my tank over night.

Anemone Clownfish discussion? Why do my posts, post in random places?

@MODS please move.

The best thing is to leave it alone in the tank, wait and see. Try feeding it a few times a week. It might split on its own, if it’s not severely damaged. If the damage is localized to the one side of the nem you could try “fragging” it. How big is your tank? I wouldn’t think a dying anemone would nuke a well established larger tank. Good luck!

It is a recent acquisition, to a 2 year old 30gal. Soon, the nem(s) will be moved into a 40b. Dedicated clown/nem tank. The damage seems localized to a small part, in comparison to the entire foot. I have it contained in a “holy” plastic container in hopes that it heals, or if not, can be removed quickly and easily. I have read, as common it seems in this hobby, varying reports. “If the foot is damaged, it’s done” or something along with what your saying. I am unfamiliar with this injury, so I am unsure if the damage pictured is considered severe, or minor.

They do recover from foot damage but yes it’s generally not a good sign. Have to leave with as little stress, try feeding and keeping everything stable and it may pull through.

Congrats on the nem tank, thinking of starting one too.

I saw a tank, maybe BRS video, or YouTube, and I was hooked. Quite a few clowns, and all the rocks covered in nems.

That sounds like my overall plan. No major changes, and will pick up some silversides tomorrow. The mysis/brine is a little small for this guy. He is literally 5/6 times larger than my other one.

I saw the same brs video lol plus my nem decided to split when I moved it to a new tank now taking too much space.

Mine eat everything including pellet food they occasionally catch and I feed them PE Mysis which is a bit bigger but don’t think they care. Good luck!
