Why dont members add the city and state to ALL f/s f/t threads??

This woukd make it EASY for ppl in that area to look for things for sale local...

just asking!!

I also think people should research Items they are gonna sell before listing them. Sometimes people ask higher prices than you can get from online stores.

because if you don't want to pay for shipping you do not have to actually open up the tread. I personally like to see everything I am getting before I pay for it, so I understand where he is coming from.

I guess people like me waste just sooo much of your time.

wow. really? you are making it personal? I was just saying "personally", which I believe is where the author of this thread was going as well. He is just putting out an idea, you asked why, and I told you why.

I do not have money to waste to see a piece I like and it not turn out exactly as i had imagined and I am also not in a rush to fill up my reef, so I am willing to wait til someone close has what I want so I don't have to pay an extra 50 bucks for a piece I want.

That's your problem if you are taking what I said as personal.
The op asked a question and I replied.

Then you act like you don't have time to actually open a thread.
Is that what you use R2R for, a fast run through in the classifieds?

You said you just told me what the op was thinking.
Well guess what I'm thinking now.

Ok easy fellas...I didnt want to make anyone upset. Im sorry.

all I mean is im in Ga. Alot of f/s stuff is not in ga...so I dont use this classifieds as much. I dont mibd paying for shipping, but 40-50 bux extra? Overnight is 20 bux heat pack and box is not even 5.

Ive even seen 75 on shipping....for one frag. Lol

if it was listed as :FRAG PACK ATL- utters...ko's...tubs blue. Someone like me in atl can be like " ahh ha! Finally something in my state!"

Why make a big deal out of putting the city your in -in the listing title?

What if I dont have time to look through 200 listings per day...im on my phone as there is no internet provider out here and I dont like burning up a 90 dollars extra in data a month. So listings I cant tell are not in my state I skip over.

How many items not sold b/c to many ppl non local couldnt afford to pay that extra 40 or 50 for shipping for one frag. OR they can afford it but dont want to shell out double for a single frag.

is it cost effective to order a 45 dollar 5 polyp utter frag n pay 50 on shipping...when ive got a 6 polyp id sell local for the same 45 bux??

idk about you but id rather save the 50 for another frag or two.

but im a cheap bastid!

this was just a suggestion is all...if you want to flame other members trying to help , please do it in someone elses thread. Thats what im thinking now. ;)

One thing I'd like to point out, is you are on the internet and if it isn't in your local club forum, wouldn't you expect to have to have it shipped?

As far as having to pay shipping, it is what it is. Most are very fair and only charge actual costs. You just have to decide if you want whatever it is, bad enough.
1 frag or 6 frags, it's what the seller has and what you want to buy.

And while it's no big deal to add a city in the title, I don't see it happening very much.

Shipping is not $20. I've shipped many times and the minimum is 50ish if you use FedEx or UPS which is the only two I trust. I've used to post office with no adverse effects yet, but the risk of issue is higher.

I like the suggestion. I can look up how much shipping would cost on my own rather than have the seller do it for me. I get an idea of how it how much it will actually be. I'm not saying all sellers fib about their shipping, but some inflate it. There's been things I've seen for sale that you'd think, "Oh, that's an easy ship item," and seller turns around and has it LOCAL only. But you find this out only after opening the thread, reading it, and being extremely dissappointed.
Also, there is nothing wrong with USPS. I think that comes down to a bit of snobbery in some cases. Reality they all do the same thing and they subcontract out to each other for deliveries.

lol Frag Freak, overnight shipping $20!?!?! More like $60-90

+1 most people who charge $40-$50 STILL lose money on shipping. It's only gonna get lower if you have some kind of commercial shopping account with high volume shopping discounts...and even then $20 is a super low estimate.

USPS for me normally runs 30-35 overnight, and then I have to buy a box $1, styro $2, specimen cups $3, heat pack $2. So supplies adds a small amount too. And even when I do Overnight in florida is still normally $20-25 just for postage alone.

The thing is when you buy 5-10 frags the price of shipping is offset by the lower price paid on frags and end up only paying $3-5 per frag instead of $35 per frag on shipping.

Everytime ive posted an overnight small box it was 20 via usps... idk if they have changed that recently but yes I understand fedex and ups is more.

I am not making a point about offseting costs of shipping by getting 6 frags. Yes I understand tgat.

my post was about simply stating the city in the threads listing title.

Good idea or no?

nit trying to make this an arguement fellas, just wanted to ask why ppl dont do it.

I think the main reason most people don't post a state or city is bc they're expecting to ship when they post rather than selling local (probably most don't even think about it). At least that's my reason...if I'm trying to avoid shipping, I post in my local club. Also, the only reason I would think it's not something I would do (now that you've made me think about it) is bc I'd be afraid people would think that by posting a state in the title that potential out of state buyers might think that I WON'T ship or that the listing is out of state. That's my .02...take it for what it's worth.

Ty md...that was exactly what I was looking for.

I would think if its posted for sale they will ship unless listing says no shipping.

it just woukd make it easier for ppl wanting to see the coral live before I buy.

With out at least a pic I wont drop a dollar.

guess ive been burned to many times in the past and dont want any headache.

I think it could work but only if everyone (or at least most people) did it. That would eliminate the issues I mentioned.
