For the lulz - anyone build a computer that's also an aquarium?

For the record, this post is not meant to be serious, but is for the lulz or for fun.

I have some leftover Corsair water cooling components, extra Core i9-10850K and some RTX 3080's that are part of an interesting Star Wars TIE fighter build I did with the kids over last spring. I'm thinking of maybe making the reservoir open into an aquarium that is also the tank. My guess is this is too much of a heater as is, since it would "boil the ocean" at idle in current state; but with a larger volume of water, I'm thinking this might make a cool cube for those in cooler climates and might serve a purpose than empty heaters in current designs.

Anyone done this?

Welcome laughs too!

I'm thinking, cube design with power supply that also has connections for lighting, skimmer and pumps. Imagine the whole neon lights thing would be bad for most corals but this might be quite interesting.

Hey I'll take one of those 3080s :winking-face-with-tongue:
No but I've seen em make aquarium computers but they use mineral oil so it only looks cool... Nothing could live in it. If you do, definitely start a build thread!
The new '40 line is out now, that's the rage now :star-struck: :p

Following this thread though for sure!

Here we go!

I think with the Core i9 10th generation and a 4080 or 4090 is going to look like this....

Funny idea, you should probably watch temperatures very closely, I expect the organic film buildup to reduce the cooling power and flow quite heavily :grinning-face-with-sweat:

I think the question would now be about placement of display tank vs usable aquarium space. Also, I'm betting freshwater would be the only way as salt is likely to be corrosive to the GPU and CPU blocks. I'm not positive about that but being alumimum can rust and is not desired in SPS tanks, I would err on the side of novelty use.

I think I could get maybe 75l max here but the fans would pull in humidity from tank evap unless closed. The lighting would be a crazy thing too, might be more suited to glowfish and FOWLR but I could see macro in here too. I think the laugh for me would be mangroves out the top. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Excellent idea @Sral may need AlgaeMat and/or UV light ready accessories.
I love it, keep it coming!

Be neat to see if you could reverse the water cooling to be sealed/airtight for cables and then fill the case with water (maybe one with less ventilation :grinning-face-with-sweat: )
Bwahhaa! That's comical.

I have a feeling the components would get fried but it's possible. I think the GPU and ASIC miners still running PoW blockhain are doing something like this. I saw this with mineral oil for sure and I have also seen a water method, I think in Washington State but cannot be sure.

@OfficeReefer i have the same case. Built over covid I couldn't get my hands on any gpu. Had to enter a daily Newegg raffle for the "opportunity to buy" and finally won and bought a 3070ti...its all I need for now. The 40's gotta be crazy expensive

I imagine it really could be awesome if it can be done right
@Token_Reefer someone has done it but not like I would have thought.

I'm thinking, aquarium first and PC second. This also looks like an electrical disaster waiting to occur. I'm thinking the power secured above and maybe to the side of the water. What's your take?
