Hello R2R,

Today I noticed a weird smell coming from my tank. Upon inspection I noticed my Muyagi tort colony bleached right in the middle of the colony, with chunks of skin holding to dear life. Yesterday everything was ok. When I pulled the colony out of the tank, the coral smelled really bad. Any idea if this will affect the rest of the tank? I put some carbon in, just in case. I verified the Apex and there was no swings. I have no sand, no issues with any other corals for now.

Alk. 8.0
Nitrate 12
Phos 0.03
Cal 430
Sal 1.026
Ph is always low 7.8 - 8.0
Temp 78-79

How old is your sandbed and how deep is the sandbed?

To clarify, the tank smells bad from a distance? What does it smell like?

No sandbed, tank is 15 months old. Smelled like rotten. I thought my heater got stuck in on and ny tank was dead. But thankfully that was not the case

Maybe you have a dead snail somewhere

I’ve never had a RTN sps smell
Rotten

maybe if it sat in a back n died but never a fresh recession out of tank

Sorry about the silence, work was kind of eventful today. Came back home and the room doesnt smell like that anymore. I have lost numerous acros before, but never seen one smell like that. Put some carbon in the tank, and im about to do a small wc. Everything else looks good for now. Dead smelly acro is out of the tank since this morning.
