Found a starfish in my reef tank

I didnt buy any starfish and this tank has been running for 4 months...do starfish just come alive on their own like this? And its only like half of a starfish lol

If you plan on corals remove it immediately. And any others you come across. Look up astrea starfish.

Asterina starfish. They often come in on live rock or with corals. They will reproduce asexually by splitting and can become a nuisance in our systems. Some people report that they eat corals, particularly zoas.

Personally, I like them and my reef has a bunch. If I have excess nutrients in my tank, the population explodes. I reduce feedings and their numbers decline.

I agree with Krista, I've got a few here and there, they come and go, and unless you get the colored type, the one you have is safe.

Oh its safe? I was just about to kill this beautiful creature...I really enjoying watching my tank come to life

I have been feedong my corals 3 times a week rather than 2 times...only foe the past couple weeks tho
