So i have a hermit crab and an emerald crab in my reef tank. I found legs that i think came from the hermit crab. I just read that crabs molt. I assume it was from my hermit from the size of the legs. Do i have to take these legs away from the tank? what happens if I leave it in the tank?

Thank you!

I always leave mine in an the hermit just eat it every once in a while as a snack. Then again I just have FOWLR at the moment. If I don't see them eating it I would take it out

No you do not have to remove them. Your snails and crabs will pick at it. It is really up to you =)

Thank you guys!!! Appreciate it. Gota love these forums for fast and wonderful answers. Very helpful also

One day you will see a whole crab sitting there with no shell you think is dead. But it will most likely be a complete molt! I always leave mine, someone in there will end up eating it. But like previous posters said if its there for days and no one eats it I would remove it.

Good thing I have boiling crab neArby if I'm craving crab. People from the Bay Area will understand. =]
