Hello,

I am only about a week into cycling my tank. A couple of days ago I noticed about 15 little feather dusters (from what I can tell) I noticed another sea anemones but Its too small to really tell what it is. I also saw 2 stars and a tiny snail. Are they going to survive the cycling period ?

I heard with live sand you can get a couple of baby stars in there and the snail i think came from the live rock.

I checked my levels my ph is 7.8 nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia are all at 0.

Any pictures?

I have a similar question. In my inexperience I 'cleaned' my live rock of algae in unsalted RO. The algae disappeared but these tiny white things have now appeared. They are only a couple of mm long, have a very thin, white stalk, a small white 'bowl' on top of the stalk and extremely thin hair-like tendrils coming out from the edge of the bowl which sway in the current. I've been told that they COULD be feather dusters but ..... could they be something else?

If you don't know by know which I'm sure you do, they are Aiptasia. I just discovered them in my tank thinking they were feather dusters. Nope. Get rid of them!

Yes those are Aiptasia, I just got a couple myself. I upgraded my tank and got new live rock and sure enough a couple of days later I had a couple. Tried scrubbing it in ro water put them back in and I am seeing more. I have been thinking of getting some peppermint shrimp to help with the issue.
