While moving a frag with some Zoas on it due to them not doing so well where they were. Noticed the plug was covered in a white brittle substance. Looked at it under the microscope and this is what it looked like.

Dont know if this is good stuff or bad stuff since if its on the plug it will be in my tank. I dip everything in coralRX and Bayer before itngoes into the tank so it survived that.

Thank you cmcoker. That looks like them alright. I have seen these spots show up on my overflows as well. Upon closer inspection of other critters in the tank i think they may have arrived on one of the turbo snail since i swear insee them on his shell.

Agree with cmcoker, they are spirorbid worms. I too got those on some coral frags I bought and they spread all over my other frags and on my tank walls. They are supposed to be harmless but I found them to be quite a nuisance and unsightly.

No problem, they will usually come in or something on another. I find they ebb and flow as the tank matures. I scrape them off the display tank glass very week or so, but leave them alone in the sump

They can grow and ride on anything. I see them on my hermits, turbo snails, Nassarius snails, even on stomatellas.
