So I rearranged my tank a month ago which made my carpet nem (that was bleached from lfs) mad so it moved behind a rock and I couldnt find it for a while. I saw it once when I turned off all flow and it was open and looked happy. Today I see it washed up in the front of my tank its shriveled up has a torn foot and smells like rotten fish when taken out of the tank. What should I do about it? Can it recover or should I remove it? I dont have an anemone quarentine so it will just sit on the sandbed. All my other rock flowers and btas are doing just fine as well
The most discouraging thing is the fact it made my whole house stink when I pulled it out. It's also not sticky at all anymore.

Side not as well. It was 2 inches across when I got it it is now maybe a quarter inch

One last side note sorry. A rock flower nem set its self hugging the carpet nem. Could it have stung the carpet anemone to death?

Yes, different species of anemone CAN (but aren't guaranteed to) sting one another. I've kept a Gigantea next to my BTA's for months, before deciding to re-house it, as it started moving to find more room (BTA's grew faster).

So, as your anemone smells like rotten fish, I'd likely bin it, an anemone's smell out of the water shouldn't be foul, but neutral (perhaps a bit salty), but roughly the same smell as the water (if there's any at all, other than salt).

An Anemone with a non-sticky-foot is also a bad sign, however.

What's the size of the tank? 60gallons? 120?
A anemone that size in a rather large tank wouldn't even put a dent in it, if you want to give her another chance, place her on the sand bed near some rock, run carbon 24/7 & check regularly. I've had a BTA of similair size die once in my tank (RedSea 250) and it didn't even put a dent in my params.

Edit: I usually give advice to take dying anemone's out ASAP, due to toxins, but this ones so tiny that meh, it should be fine.. The reason it shrunk is that it was being stung, moving her will probably fix the size quite quickly aswell, if she survives, if you decide to give her another chance -- I advice putting her somewhere near rock on the bottom of the tank , and start feeding a quarter of an anemone pellet once a week for 4 weeks, but only after she starts looking a little bit better

Sorry for a late reply. It is a nano 10g. So the risk of nuking is extremely high unfortunately I had to give the nem a burial because it was melting very quickly. Live and learn.

For a 10 gal, that would probably have been the right choice :(
