I just had to remove 2 of my power heads from my system, one was 1200gph and the other was 800gph. I have a Wall Hammer and an Octospawn that were just getting killed by flow no matter where I put them. So much so that the Hammer started to peel out of its shell, and the Octo wouldn't extend. Removed the power heads, put them more on the bottom and in just very minor flow, and BANG, out they both came.
So, there is a point where you can get to much flow in the tank, for some corals, now Im sure that an SPS tank would loved my 8400gph that I had in there, but the LPS just werent' having a good time, no matter where I placed them. Now I just have 2 3200gph on either side of a 8' long 240g tank, and I can now place the corals where I now have medium and low flow, whereas in 8400gph with 4 powerheads, they were like dogs sticking their heads out the windows and having their tongues pulled out of their mouths.
Now my softies on the other hand love that high flow stuff, didn't mind it a bit, specially the Yellow Figi.
Any thoughts or comments on flow?

When I had my 40 gallon ( 30" x 18" x 18" ) zoanthid only tank running I used a pair of Tunzes 6055 on a 7095 controller. Had the power dialed up to over 3/4.
Now I have a 50 gallon ( 30" x 20" x 20" ) branching lps and encrusting lps and sps type corals with the same Tunze setup and I had to dial the power down to around 1/2.
I tried it for a while on the same setting as the other tank, but those branching lps just didn't like it.

I have a wp25 in my 50 gallon tank. I had to play with the flow because it was effecting my clam.

Get you some mp40's and control them with your apex. That way you will not blast them guys and you can control the flow as needed. Spend your allowance bud and step up to the good stuff. lol

Sorry bro, Im a cheap spender. I control all my stuff based on normal power heads at speed, I can't afford all that good stuff you money bags have.
