Simple days. I had 4 T5 bulbs, a skimmer and water changes. The good ol days. As much as I love current reefing and technology, I miss my old biocube 29 I set up in 2007 with a sunpod metal halide, led moon lights, salinity HAD to be 1.024, and when turnover was the most discussed thing.
thanks for sharing and reminding me of simpler time.
Man I didn’t even have a skimmer! I had tried one… I can’t remember the name but I think they’re out of business, it did absolutely nothing so I was weekly 5 gallons on my biocube. In an upstairs apartment. Getting RO from a garden house near our garage slot, Also NO NITRATE EVER!Simple days. I had 4 T5 bulbs, a skimmer and water changes.
Haha!! Yes! The garden hose connected to the RODI. I'm not sure if I had nitrates. Never tested anything after the first cycle back then lol. Totally things that are cringe now..Man I didn’t even have a skimmer! Thank you! That tank had a Harlequin Tusk, Yellow Tang, Juvenile Imperator, Bellus Angel and pair of Ocellaris that never left that anemone (anemone ate a Foxface horrible to walk into...) but I did love that one of all my reef tanks. It was gorgeous! Love the lay out of the tank. What livestock did you have?
Thank you!Awesome! Love the carpet.
I still keep it simple.

Thank you. It was a softie/LPS tank with 4 bubble tip anemones and one carpet anemone. I've tried corals so many times after that tank and never stuck with it. Not because I couldn't keep them but because that tank was perfect. Tinted glass doors on the stand opened on all sides, starphire glass on 3 sides and came with black euro bracing. It was sweet lol.. now I run fish only systems which are my two favorites along with that one. What a beautiful tank and obviously you were doing something right even if it flies in the face of modern reefing! I would gladly do exactly what you did if it gave me a tank like yours!![]()
Yep! Went from Woodstock to electric daisy carnivalThere is something more natural and calming/relaxing about reefs back then (or those that are still like 'then').
New reefing be like...
