Interestingly enough, no petcos by me carry salt water anymore.
I wonder if it’s too much of a loss-leader. Saltwater fish and inverts need a ton of maintenance to just keep them alive, and demand a lot more space before they start killing each other. I find it hard to believe the fish section at my local Petco pays for itself.

I was shocked when i went to my local petco and saw that they had carpet nems. They looked horrible like they were melting and didn’t have vibrant color

So my petco near me is more saltwater then freshwater. Each store will be different depending on traffic. They even special order at mine!. A lot of times the good stuff is already spoken for or bought within a couple hours of arriving. I even mentioned to them that their lights are looking poor which they agreed the T5 lights were old.

Sadly it all depends on who is running the store on whether they care or not.

Mines the same. They generally have a large selection of decently sized (up to hand size) anemones of various types for fairly low prices (compared to anything I’ve seen at another LFS or online), just after a couple days they mostly look like they’re not long for this world and are in systems with poorly looking fish, so would need quarantine.
