No clue what this is. It walks. Anyone have any idea what this is and how I could have obtained it? Maybe a hermit crab without a shell?

This is not a Hermit crab some kind of isopod. These come in as Larvel on corals many times.
Just like aphasia, they come in on frags or corals you buy.

I just put a coral in over the weekend, a pretty small one. I feel like I would have seen this and there wouldn't have been enough time to get that big (just under 1/2") over a few days. I have it removed and in it's own container for now. I figure if anything I'll take it to my LFS for some insight.

Could have come in at another time. It is amazing what comes in. I have had blooms of star fish without adding anything to a tank for a year.

Looks like a dragonfly and an amphipod had a baby.

When I was trying to find info on Google about it, I thought the same thing... dragonfly. It just looks freakishly alien-like!

I bought the entire setup used from a friend. It's about 5 months old, in my house that is.

Funny thing about dragon fly.. there might be a possibility..

[Erythrodiplax berenice] "Reproduction Comments: This species is nearly marine, capable of breeding in waters with high salt concentrations. Populations of males are often found defending relatively small territories around isolated pools. The female lays eggs accompanied by the male in these pools by dipping her abdomen numerous times while hovering in place (Abbott, 2007). Males defend small territories around pools and tidal creeks. Females oviposit in tandem on algal mats in saline wetlands and salt marshes (Nikula et al., 2003)."

"exposed larvae to increasing concentrations of salt in water, finding that it was only at three times the typical ocean-water concentration of salt that nymphs finally showed distress."

Searching google for nymph images. No luck yet. I see your profile says Iowa, while these are Atlantic/Gulf coast.

Did you buy any Macroalgaes from the East Coast?

I don't even know what macro algae is to be honest. But no, I haven't purchased anything other than fish, snails, crabs, and two corals. Everything else is from the original purchase.

Just an update... Took it too my LFS and he immediately tagged it as a silverfish bug that must have crawled into the sump. I guess it's kind of common around here. Sorry folks, it's not an alien.
