This showed up in Live Rock today. What might it be?

A large and hungry aiptasia.

Might be best to just remove that rock for now. At a minimum, chisel that part off.

Question. I thought aipasia lived in rock? This was floating around earlier also and then attacked to rock.

All nems have the ability to move, or let go and float.

Tank came with some Aiptasia-X so guessing time to use it?
Personally, I’d take a flathead screwdriver and a hammer and chisel the aiptasia off altogether, still on the rock. Aiptasia X has had mixed results for me, one of them being the spread of aiptasia throughout the tank, as messing with one makes it spawn babies

The Aiptasia really doesn't really need to be a big deal - or other hitchhikers for that matter - if you go slow now (while you have the chance).

Do what the others have suggested - take the rock out and kill it - either by drying the rock out, or chiseling it off.
Then you can add the rock back.
Then I would have a waiting period where you don't add any corals for like 6 weeks to be sure there are no other pests that pop up.
After you're sure it's good to go, start with easy stuff and go slow - too fast and too much is a recipe for disaster.

If you do things like I suggested you'll be much happier in the long run. If you don't, the decisions get a lot harder once you have corals all over your rocks, and don't want to disturb them.

easy removal and I would remove before it lets off little ones all over the tank

using a syringe. . . inject either lemon juice or preferably kalkwasser powder mixed into a thin paste and inject into the center core of the aptasia and it will melt away
