Four different Hanna phosphate checkers!

I use the Hanna ULR in ppm (HI774). It displays in the unit that I want to know, ppm, in the range that I target, 0.1 - 0.2 ppm).

If you plan to run phosphate extremely close to zero ( <= 0.05ppm, very dangerous to a reef IMO), then the Hanna ULR in ppb is more accurate (just have to convert to ppm using their conversion table). You'll be able to know with fairly good certainty that running zero/near-zero phosphate is why all your SPS died and now you have dinos.

are you sure it’s the HI774 isn’t its range zero to .9?

edit it covers that range, I thought you were saying that was the range it only covered.

I use the phosphorus ulr, tried the red sea pro and that didn't change colour. My tank runs around 9 ppb or 0.028ppm which the redsea test kit reads as zero.

seen a couple of people say that about the Red Sea, a video on YouTube shows zero even at .05 also, when the Hanna was showing nearly .05.

BRS did a nice YouTube video discussing the accuracy of Hanna test kits. I don't recall them testing all four. I found it very helpful and chose to buy the ultra low phosphorus test kit.

I don’t think the 774 was out at the time of that video?

Like I said, strict adherence. A smudge on the cuvette is all it takes to skew the final result.
Yep Scorpius is right. I use a microfiber cloth and wipe the cuvette each time before I place it back in the checker. I also try and put the cuvette back facing the same direction each time. For example the word Hanna facing me... I found this to provide a more consistent reading each time over the month.

Multiplying the result by 0.003066 is difficult? Even the old flip-phones had calculators on them
I said I don't feel like doing the math, not that using a calculator is difficult. I'm also not glued to my phone or feel like hunting down my phone half the time. I can easily open my laptop or walk to my stationary desktop and glance at a chart.
